SNAG-2060.png Want to connect directly with other e-learning professionals to brainstorm about e-learning adoption challenges, instructional design barriers, content deployment roadblocks, technology selection, LMS evaluations, and more?

Billing itself as “a worldwide knowledge exchange for corporate training, organizational development and institutional learning professionals,” the Corporate Learning Forum
is an email service designed specifically for the learning community.

sweeney.jpg Jenna Sweeney, Articulate customer and President of CramerSweeney Instructional Design, which founded the Corporate Learning Forum, said,

“Corporate training professionals have an insatiable appetite for information. Until now, there was a notable absence of a mechanism to exchange it. <a href="http://www.corporatelearningforum.com/public/index.htm“>Corporate Learning Forum fills that void perfectly.”

Launched in August 2006, the Corporate Learning Forum gives members immediate access to real-time discussion using LISTSERV technology. There are already nearly 1,000 corporate members (many of which are also Articulate customers), including American Express, Boeing, AstraZeneca, Walt Disney Company, Coca-Cola, Miller Brewing Company, 3M, American Red Cross, Comcast, FedEx, GEICO, GMAC, Hewlett Packard, Intuit, J&J, Lockheed Martin, Merck & Co., MetLife, Motorola, Oracle, Penn State University, Pfizer, KPMG, Pricewaterhouse Coopers, Roche, Target Corporation, Bank of New York, Time Warner Cable, United Airlines, United Way, Clorox, UPS, Washington Mutual, and Wyeth.

“Corporate Learning Forum has turned out to be highly successful because it allows people to exchange information when they need it most — right now,” continued Sweeney. “Questions are responded to with a flurry of answers in a matter of minutes, by some of the most experienced thought leaders in our industry.”

Just curious why you are charging a fee like this? Seems that in today’s world people want to be able to collaborate and share knowledge and information free of charge. What benefit I get for joining?

Hi Randee- Thanks for the question. I’ll be sure to pass it on to Jenna so she can address it for you.

Randee, There is no shortage of free information exchanges on the web, including countless blogs in the blogosphere. However, there are two distinct benefits of Corporate Learning Forum over blogs and bulletin boards. First is the dynamic and immediate exchange of information. Second and perhaps most important, is the sheer number of people exchanging this immediate information.

Consider this: Why after just a few short weeks did Corporate Learning Forum’s membership read like a Who’s Who list in the corporate training industry? Marketing! Listservs are underutilized because most of them are byproducts of non-profit organizations. With the benefit of a nominal annual membership fee ($50), Corporate Learning Forum can afford to market. Marketing equals more members, and more members means a much deeper knowledge base to tap into. Ultimately, access to knowledge is what it’s all about. So how is Corporate Learning Forum delivering on its promise of a dynamic information exchange worth the $50 investment? Take a look.

Several weeks ago the chief learning officer of the nation’s largest cable provider posted a question to the Forum asking for help in finding an e-course that could train his 80,000 employees on pandemic flu preparation. Within 5 minutes he received several excellent sources, including one from a local instructional design firm that had just completed the very same course—-MY firm! In a subsequent conversation, he told me that he had spent countless hours over several months researching this and was amazed to solve this issue within a few minutes of joining Corporate Learning Forum. Corporate Learning Forum’s home page has a “Testimonials” link featuring dozens of comments from member companies who have similarly positive experiences so far.

Dear Jenna,

Thanks for clarifying the doubts related to the joining fee. However, I would like to know how far it is going to benefit me a guy who is a corporate trainer for years will get the cutting edge of this forum? However, I am looking for similar books like No props and the author name is Mark. This book is the best book related to corporate games will there be any information related to corporate games in your forum?

It is always hard to know if it is worth the money for something like this especially when there are free options. I think it mainly comes down to how much your going to use it and how good the content is. The thing that makes me happy is to see where corporate learning is headed. Good stuff

I’m interested to know about a security issue we’re having with publishing to our public website. I need to deploy a learning module (and many more to come) to our website and so I’ve published the Storyline file for that purpose. Prior to going live with the delivery our company did a security sweep of the contents and discovered a line of code that may allow any domain to inject a script into the hosting (our) web page. Not good. The code is in the story.js file. Here’s that line of code:

strHtml += “”;

The suggestion is to change the ‘always’ to ‘sameDomain’.

The big question is: Will this work?

Second big question: is there another way to publish ARticulate Storyline files without having to modify the js file?
