The last few weeks have been exciting here at Articulate! We’re super pumped about the Articulate Studio ’13 release and all the awesome new features it has to offer. Today I want to highlight the cool new interaction types available in Articulate Engage ’13. They sure live up to the program’s name: they literally engage your learners!

Engage offers 20 pre-built interactions that you can completely customize with your own text and photos. This means you can include interactive activities like image zooms, tabbed images, and a clickable bulletin board without having to write a single line of code. Forget about boring click-next-style e-learning! With Engage, it’s super easy to build captivating courses faster than ever.

Engage ’13 adds ten awesome (and painless) ways to add variety and interactivity to your e-learning projects. Check out these new interactions:

Accordion

Inspired by popular demand, the accordion template is a simple tabbed activity that lets you easily demonstrate a step-by-step process, or multiple pages of information, for one topic.

Bulletin Board

Here’s an easy way to take simple content and turn it into something more visually engaging! The bulletin board interaction lets you easily add sticky notes with information and media to a bulletin board graphic.

Checklist

This simple checklist is easy to customize as a to-do list, or as a simple step-by-step process, for your learners. Add multimedia like images, videos, and even audio in just a few clicks.

Conversation

The new conversation interaction is a great way to illustrate a dialogue between two individuals. This could be an example of a customer service call or to show a list of frequently asked questions and answers.

Folders

Folders are a popular object for e-learning courses, and now you can build your interactivity right into it! This office-themed folder interaction has clickable tabs for accessing various pages of content.

Image Zoom

Adding an image zoom effect is easier than you think! Simply drag the zoom area to the proper spot on your image to set the zoom. It’s ideal for a map with areas you want to highlight, or to showcase different features of a tool on a software application screenshot.

Labeled Panel

With the labeled panel interaction, you can easily add and customize clickable markers to an image to reveal additional text, images, or video.

Media Panel

This awesome new media panel interaction highlights multimedia such as image-rich content, additional images, and videos.

Quick Choice

Quick choice is the simplest, most straightforward way to create a multiple choice quiz! No coding required—just input your question and feedback text. You can even add multimedia, such as images and video

Tabbed Image

Another easy way to showcase rich imagery and multimedia is the tabbed image interaction. This interaction is also a great way to illustrate a step-by-step procedure.

These ten new interactions are only part of the story—there are ten more on top of that! Check them all out and see how easily you can add your own text content, record narration, and import multimedia in Engage ’13. You can even customize the player, fonts, and color schemes to match your organization’s branding and corporate look on your interactions. So go ahead—try a new Engage ’13 interaction in your next project!

The new interactions look great. Was there a response to Susan’s question? I would also like to know if these will be or are available in Storyline. Thanks.

Repeat of Susan’s question. I just purchased Storyline yesterday.
I used Articulate/Engage/Quizmaker and am lost without the Engages I came to know and love. Are any Engages included in Storyline?
I’ve not found them yet.

These are great. I do miss a few of the old options like flash cards, tic-tac-toe, etc. Any plans for these to be developed for Engage ’13?

Hello Articulate staff. I’m disappointed at the lack of any response from Oct 17 of last year. Three months waiting for an answer is much longer that I have ever had to wait for information from you!
You now have 5 people asking for more information.
Please….!!!

Hi Vicki and others! We apologize for the inconvenience, but we can’t offer a specific date. We’re working hard to get this functionality added to a free forthcoming update. Thank you for being Articulate customers and thanks for your patience!

I have Articulate 13 and using the Bulletin Board engage. Could we delay the intro. slide? I have a couple of post-its on the bulletin board and my customer wants to have time to read the post-its prior to the introduction slide to pop-up. Could someone tell me what to do?

Hi Yvonhne! Thanks for the message. Unfortunately you cannot delay the intro slide in the Bulletin Board interaction. You can either select it and have it appear first, or de-select it and not have it appear at all.
