UK-based educational publisher tutor2u has always used PowerPoint as a key tool in its training initiatives. Now with Articulate Presenter and Articulate QuizMaker in its toolbox, the publisher can create even more powerful and compelling content for its students.

Jim Riley, CEO of tutor2u, writes the following:

“We have over 20,000 students and teachers from around the world accessing our free materials every day. We also export learning resources to schools and colleges in over 70 countries — usually with PowerPoint as a key publishing platform. We need to be able to create high quality, engaging and accessible learning resources for our customers. For us, Articulate Presenter and QuizMaker are a major step forward. We can create innovative and interactive presentations that students really enjoy. Best of all, the development time and cost of creating such resources has been significantly reduced.

“Now, a presentation can be much more than simply a set of word or picture slides. We can embed quizzes, Flash movies and other interactive multimedia that help us communicate the key points of each topic so much more effectively.

“Students and teachers love the ability to browse thumbnails of the slides or search presentations for key topics. The variety of publishing output formats offered by AP and QM has also opened up new opportunities for us. Recently we have embedded Presenter and QuizMaker resources into auto-run applications and our school and college customers have been able to host our presentation resources easily on their intranets and learning environments such as Blackboard, Moodle and WebCT.

“Three months on, and I consider Articulate to be an integral part of PowerPoint. Our academic authors can focus on creating high quality content. Then, it is over to us to turn it into something exciting and effective.”

Hi: I’m trying out Articulate and I have no trouble creating content at all. Much easier than Camtasia. However, the problem comes when I try to publish my presentations to my eCollege site. I know it can be done because a collegue did it for me several times. Now that I’m on my own, I can’t remember all the steps. I thought I was supposed to load the zipped file, but I keep getting an error message that because of security, they can’t accept an html file. What do I have to do to get my presentations up on my course site?

Hi Gail- glad to hear you think our products are easier to use. As for eCollege, you might want to check out some of the threads in our forums, or contact eCollege directly to ask them for steps.

In terms of creating the content from the Articulate products, take a look at this blog entry for starters.
