This Week’s Community Chat: LMS Selection

Articulate desktop tools give you a powerful and easy way to author compelling elearning content for your learners. And Articulate Online customers can attest that AO provides a quick and effective way to track elearning activity for all your Articulate-authored content. But what if your tracking needs go beyond what AO offers and you’re interested in finding an LMS that will still work well with Articulate content?

That’s the exact question we’ll be tackling in this week’s live community chat. Join Articulate staff and community members to discuss your current LMS or your requirements for a new LMS, and hear from current customers what LMSes work for them.

Although we don’t officially recommend any Learning Management System (besides our own, of course), any LMS that supports SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, or AICC should work fine with Articulate-created content.

However, anyone who’s worked with an LMS before knows all too well that complications inevitably arise. For example, there are a number of ways to implement the SCORM standard so it’s possible that you’ll run into some integration issues in getting your LMS to properly “listen” to what your Articulate content is telling it.

For the record, our tools are SCORM-certified — Presenter SCORM specs | Quizmaker SCORM specs — so in the vast majority of support cases we see, LMS integration issues fall on the side of the LMS.

Our customers have discussed LMSes at length in our community forums, and Tony Karrer has written extensively on his blog about the LMS selection process, so those are both good resources, too.

Here are the details of this week’s chat where you can get your questions and concerns addressed in real time:
